USEFUL ADVICE

What should I consider when buying glasses ?

When choosing a pair of glasses you should keep in mind that it is very important your glasses fit to the shape of you face. (have a look at our "Frames of faces" page). Apart from that you should also keep in mind what designer, style and colour fit to your personality, appearance and style of dress. Sporty, trendy, elegant, or classic look – the look you choose is up to you.

If you are short-sighted you should choose a thick frame as it will conceal the edge of the lenses. Lenses for short-sightedness are much thicker than those used for far-sightedness. Plastic frames are well suited for short-sighted people, as the frames are usually a little thicker than metal frames. Rimless glasses are often not well suited to people with short-sightedness. Furthermore, short-sighted people should think about choosing a frame with small lenses. A rule of thumb: the smaller the lens, the thinner the frame (see "Size of glasses" page). For people with very strong short-sightedness it is in general better to choose thinner lens (thiner, extra thiner or ultra thiner lens thikness.

Are you far-sighted? Then we recommend a smaller frame as the rims of the lenses for far-sighted people are in general relatively thin. That's why the rims of the lenses don't affect the general appearance, nor do they protrude from slender and elegant metal frames.

If you are allergic to nickel, then you should choose either a plastic or titanium frame.
